A rhythm game in your browser, no download, made for touch screens
Open the link, tap to play. Four instruments built for thumbs, ten songs, four difficulties. Solo or with friends.
Our Band Sucks is a rhythm game that lives at a web address. There's no app to install, no account to make and nothing to update: open the link on a phone or tablet and the first song is a tap away. If you like it, it also installs to the home screen as an app, and the songs you've played once work offline in Solo.
It was built for touch screens from the start, not ported from a keyboard game: every instrument is a mechanic a thumb can do, and timing is judged on your own phone, against the audio playing on it.
Four mechanics, all thumbs
Drums: tap
Dots drop onto a drum kit. Hit each drum the moment its dot lands; crash the cymbals, survive the rolls.
Guitar: swipe
Notes slide down three strings. Swipe across the string at the ring, the way the arrow points.
Keys: tap and hold
Notes fall down the lanes. Tap them on the line and hold the long ones.
Vocals: drag
A ball hops from note to note. Drag it left and right to land on each one.
Timing in a browser, done right
Every tap is judged on the phone it happens on, against the audio that phone is playing, so the network never costs you a note. A Party room only needs the connection to start the song on every phone together and to share scores. Bluetooth headphones add a delay; the game has an Audio sync setting that measures and cancels it. Wired headphones or the speaker need nothing.
Four difficulties, from Easy to Expert, chosen per player. Ten original songs, from an easy one at 117 BPM to an expert one at 153, each around three minutes.
What's inside
Solo
Every song and every instrument, on your own. Scores go to a leaderboard, today, this week and all time.
Party
A room code, up to 4 phones, each with an instrument, one song together. Virtual bandmates fill empty seats.
Madness and Idol
Instruments that switch mid-song, or four songs with a crown for the most points.
Memory
Learn the keys riff while the notes show. Then they vanish. Play it back from memory.
Questions, answered badly
Do I need to download anything?
No. It's a web page. Open it on a phone or tablet and play. Installing it to the home screen is optional.
Does it work offline?
Solo mode does, for the songs you've played once while online. Party rooms and the leaderboard need a connection.
Can I play with a keyboard on my computer?
No. The band plays on phones and tablets, with thumbs. On a computer the page shows a QR code to open it on your phone.
Which browsers?
Any modern one: Safari on iPhone and iPad, Chrome on Android, and their siblings.
Is there an account or a price?
Neither. Free, no ads, no sign-up.
