A karaoke game where nobody has to sing
Vocals played with your thumb: a ball hops from note to note and you drag it to land on each one. All the fun of the mic, none of the voice.
Karaoke nights have one problem: half the room would rather die than sing. Our Band Sucks keeps the karaoke part, a song, a band and somebody up front with the vocal line, and takes the voice out of it. The Vocals player follows the melody with a thumb: a ball hops from note to note, and you drag it left and right to land on each one, on time.
It runs in the phone's browser, so there's no mic to set up and no app to install. And the vocalist isn't alone: up to three friends play drums, guitar and keys on their own phones, on the same song.
How the vocals work
The Karaoke Ball
A ball hops along the melody. Drag it under each note as it lands. Long notes, slides and jumps between high and low parts.
Timing, not pitch
Nobody hears your voice, because there isn't one. You're scored on landing the ball on time, like any rhythm game.
Four difficulties
Easy keeps the ball near the middle. Expert jumps across the whole range and doesn't wait for you.
Singing optional
Sing along if you want. The game won't judge it. Your friends might.
Who it's for
The friend who loves karaoke and the friend who'd rather leave: they can both be in the band. It's also a fix for the parties where the karaoke machine comes out at 1 am and the neighbours don't love it. Headphones on, thumbs out, nobody gets an angry knock on the door.
Ten original songs, about the daily grind (lost keys, laundry, the stove), so nobody argues over who gets to do the big ballad.

Questions, answered badly
