Games to play with friends on your phone
Same couch, different cities or on a call: one link, one code, everyone in the band.
The hard part of playing with friends on phones isn't the game, it's getting everyone into it: different phones, different app stores, someone who won't make an account. Our Band Sucks skips all of that. It's a web page: you send a link, they tap it, and they're in your band with a joke stage name, one tap later.
Then each phone is an instrument and you play a song together. It works the same whether you're on the same couch or on a video call across time zones.
Three ways people play
Same room
The loudest way. Everyone hears everyone, and you see the drummer's face during the roll.
On a video call
Long-distance friends, family abroad. Each phone plays the song in sync; the call carries the laughs.
Async-ish
Not everyone free tonight? Solo mode has a leaderboard: post your score, dare the group chat to beat it.
Getting friends in
- 1
Open the game
Tap Party, then Host a new game. You get a 4-letter code and a link.
- 2
Send the link
WhatsApp, iMessage, Discord, wherever. The preview shows the room.
- 3
They tap Join
That's it: no name to type, no account. They can change their name later.
- 4
Pick and play
Instruments, a song, and the band starts on every phone at once.
When it's a good pick
Two to four friends who want to do something together rather than take turns. A group chat that needs a reason to meet up online. A family video call where the kids and the grandparents can both play, because the difficulty is per player and the game is mostly tapping in time.
Questions, answered badly
Can we play long distance?
Yes. The room code works from anywhere with internet.
Does it work on a phone call?
Yes, keep the call going and play in the browser. Headphones help.
Do my friends need an app?
No. They tap the link and Join.
How many can play?
1 to 4 per room.
Is it free?
Yes. No ads, no account.
