Guitar Hero on your phone

Guitar Hero on your phone, with friends

The band game you remember, rebuilt for thumbs. Free, in the browser, for 1 to 4 phones.

There's no official Guitar Hero for phones anymore, and Rock Band needs a console and a closet full of plastic. Our Band Sucks keeps the part everyone remembers, a band playing a song together with notes flying at the strum line, and moves it onto the phones you already have.

Each phone is one instrument, played with thumbs: swipe the guitar strings, tap the drum kit, hold the keys lanes or drag the vocal ball (nobody has to sing). It runs in the browser, it's free, and friends join with a room code.

What each thumb does

  • Guitar: swipe

Notes ride on strings; swipe across the right string in the arrow's direction. Strums and chords on the harder levels.

  • Drums: tap

A drum kit on screen: snare, kick, hi-hat, cymbal. Rolls and fills on Hard and Expert.

  • Keys: lanes

Hit and hold the lanes as the melody comes down. Rehearsal mode turns it into a memory challenge.

  • Vocals: drag

Slide a ball under the notes as the melody moves. You don't have to sing a word.

Honest differences

You won't get licensed hits: the ten songs are originals about daily life (lost keys, laundry, a stove you may have left on). And a touchscreen isn't a fret board; it's closer to the feeling than the muscle memory. What you get instead is a band night with zero setup: send a link and four phones are a band thirty seconds later.

Questions, answered badly

  • Is this the official Guitar Hero?

No. It's an independent game in the same spirit. Guitar Hero is a trademark of its owner.

  • Does it need an app?

No. It's a web page that works on iPhone and Android. It can also be added to your home screen.

  • Can I play guitar alone?

Yes. Solo mode, any song, any instrument, with a leaderboard.

  • Do I need a controller or a TV?

No. The phone is the instrument and the screen.

  • Is it free?

Yes, with no ads and no account.

Your band sucks?

Go prove it.

Jackbox, Guitar Hero, Rock Band and Fortnite Festival are trademarks of their owners. Our Band Sucks isn't affiliated with any of them; they're mentioned so you know what kind of game this is.
