Rhythm game with friends

A rhythm game to play with friends, on your phones

Four phones, four instruments, one song. Free, in the browser, with a room code.

Most rhythm games are something you play alone and then show your friends the score. Our Band Sucks is built the other way round: the song only sounds right when the whole band plays it. One phone hosts a room, friends join with a 4-letter code or a link, and each phone becomes drums, guitar, keys or vocals.

It runs in the phone's browser, so there's nothing to install and nobody has to buy anything. Your very first song even teaches itself: the first notes wait on the line until you hit them, then the band takes off.

Why it's more fun together

  • Everyone plays at once

No turns. The whole band plays the same song at the same time, each on their own part.

  • Each instrument plays differently

Tap the drum kit, swipe the guitar strings, hold the keys lanes, drag the vocal ball. Swap after every song.

  • Your own difficulty

Easy, Medium, Hard or Expert per player, so the drummer who owns a real kit and the friend who's never played can share a song.

  • A reel at the end

After each song the band gets a highlight reel: the best streaks and the worst misses, played back for everyone.

Start a session

  1. 1

    Host

One of you opens the game, taps Party and gets a 4-letter room code.

  2. 2

    Invite

Send the link: friends tap it and Join. Or they type the code.

  3. 3

    Pick instruments and a song

Ten original songs, from easy to expert. Classic for the whole song, Madness if you want instruments switching mid-song.

  4. 4

    Play

The song starts on every phone at once. Then the reel, then the next song.

Rhythm game nerds, read this

Every phone judges its own timing against its own audio, so the room only has to agree on when the song starts. That keeps the timing tight even when one friend is on bad Wi-Fi. Bluetooth headphones add lag, so there's an Audio sync screen to calibrate it. Charts are hand-balanced per instrument and difficulty, with combos, multipliers, full combos and all-perfects.

Questions, answered badly

  • How many friends can play?

Up to 4 phones in a room, the host included. Virtual bandmates fill empty seats.

  • Do we need to be in the same place?

No. The room code works from anywhere. It's louder in the same room.

  • Is it free?

Yes. No ads, no account, no download.

  • Does it work on iPhone and Android?

Yes, in any modern mobile browser. Tablets too.

  • Can I play alone?

Yes. Solo has every song and instrument, with a leaderboard.
